And the evening and the morning were the first day. 14. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. [Hell is seperatation from God, and is, therefore, dark.]
1 John 1:5. This then is the message which we have heard from him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines. 9 He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not where he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.

I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
God is light and He surrounds all so there are no shadows. While He may dwell in darkness (see Unsearchable), He has no darkness in Him. He, like our sun or any star, has darkness all around, yet emits tremendous light. Light provides warmth, energy, direction, and revelation. Darkness holds onfusion, stumbling, cold and hiding. Let's open ourselves to our God who is light. Let's allow Him to show us any good or bad in our lives that He wishes to reveal. Let's let Him direct us as He desires. He is a gentleman, so let's invite Him to be our light.
