Exodus 3:7. And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I am come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good land and a large, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. [This verse reveals God's mercy.]

Exodus 15:12 You did stretch out your right hand, the earth swallowed them. 13 You in your mercy have led forth the people who you have redeemed: you have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.

Exodus 20:5 You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Exodus 25:21 And you shall put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you. 22 And there I will meet with you, and I will commune with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel. [God put the mercy seat, where the blood was applied on the day of atonement, above the testimony or law. That signifies that God sees the blood, not all the laws we have broken. It is there that God meets with us. Thank you Lord for the blood of Jesus and your mercy on us! We depend on the blood of Jesus, Lord, not on any of our works!]

Exodus 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, to the third and to the fourth generation. 9 And he said, If now I have found grace in your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray you, go among us; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.

Leviticus 16:30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

Numbers 14:17 And now, I beseech you, let the power of my LORD be great, according as you have spoken, saying, 18 The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation. 19 Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your mercy, and as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. 20. And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word: 21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

Numbers 15:28 And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sins ignorantly, when he sins by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.

[This verse reveals God's mercy.]

2 Samuel 22:26 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful, and with the upright man you will show yourself upright.

2 Samuel 24:14 And David said to Gad, I am in deep distress: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

1 Kings 3:6 And Solomon said, You have shown to your servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

2 Kings 13:22 But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz. 23 And the LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither did he as yet reject them from his presence.

2 Kings 20:5 Return, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold, I will heal you: on the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD. [This verse reveals God's mercy.]

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Ezra 9:13 And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that you our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this;

Nehemiah 9:17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did perform among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not. 19 Yet you in your great mercies forsook them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go. 31 Nevertheless for your great mercies' sake you did not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God. 32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keeps covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before you, that has come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria to this day.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to your loving kindness: according to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalms 56:8. You number my wanderings: you put my tears into your bottle: are they not in your book? 9 When I cry to you, then shall my enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. [This verse reveals God's mercy.]

Psalms 57:1. Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me: for my soul trusts in you: yea, in the shadow of your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities are past by. 2 I will cry to God most high; to God that performs all things for me. 3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. 10 For your mercy is great to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds.

Psalms 59:10 The God of my mercy shall succor me: God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies. 16 But I will sing of your power; yea, I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning: for you have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. 17 To you, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy.

Psalms 62:12 Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy: for you render to every man according to his work.

Psalms 78:38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time he turned his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. 39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passes away, and comes not again.

Psalms 79:8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let your tender mercies speedily succor us: for we are brought very low.

Psalms 85:2 You have forgiven the iniquity of your people, you have covered all their sin. Selah. 3 You have taken away all your wrath: you have turned yourself from the fierceness of your anger. 10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

Psalms 86:3 Be merciful to me, O Lord: for I cry to you daily. 5 For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and abundant in mercy to all them that call upon you. 13 For great is your mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell. 15 But you, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.

Psalms 89:1. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever: with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations. 2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up forever: your faithfulness shall you establish in the very heavens. 14 Righteousness and justice are the habitation of your throne: mercy and truth shall go before your face. 28 My mercy will I keep for him forevermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

Psalms 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.

Psalms 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; 4 Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies; 8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in mercy. 9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 Like as a father pities his children, so the LORD pities them that fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and its place shall know it no more. 17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness to children's children; 18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. [Why would this scripture say as far as the east is from the west and not the north from the south? One reason may be that you can travel eastwardly as far as you wish, and you will never be traveling westwardly. On the conctrary, you can only travel so far northwardly before you are heading southwardly!]

Psalms 106:45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. 46 He made them also to be pitied by all those that carried them captives. 4 For your mercy is great above the heavens: and your truth reaches to the clouds.

Psalms 136:1. O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures forever. 2 O give thanks to the God of gods: for his mercy endures forever. 3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endures forever. 4 To him who alone does great wonders: for his mercy endures forever. 5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endures] forever. 6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endures forever. 7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endures forever: 8 The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endures forever: 9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endures forever. 10. To him that smote Egypt in their first born: for his mercy endures forever: 11 And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endures forever: 12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm: for his mercy endures forever. 13 To him who divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endures forever: 14 And made Israel to pass through its midst: for his mercy endures forever: 15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red sea: for his mercy endures forever. 16 To him who led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endures forever. 17 To him who smote great kings: for his mercy endures forever: 18 And slew famous kings: for his mercy endures forever: 19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endures forever: 20 And Og king of Bashan: for his mercy endures forever: 21 And gave their land for a heritage: for his mercy endures forever: 22 Even a heritage to Israel his servant: for his mercy endures forever. 23. Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endures forever: 24 And has redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endures forever. 25 Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy endures forever. 26 O give thanks to the God of heaven: for his mercy endures forever. [Is it just me, or is there a theme to this Psalm?]

Isaiah 40:1. Comfort you, comfort you my people, says your God. 2 Speak you kindly to Jerusalem, and cry to her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she has received from the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. [I understand this phrase 'double for all her sins' to mean: the bill was paid, that it had been doubled (or folded in half) because all demands had been made.]

Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and will not remember your sins.

Isaiah 44:22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return to me; for I have redeemed you.

Isaiah 49:13. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD has comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted. 14 But Zion said, The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me. 15 Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet I will not forget you. 16 Behold, I have graven you upon the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

Isaiah 53:4. Surely he has borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement for our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 10. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Isaiah 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you. 8 In a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on you, says the LORD your Redeemer. 9 For this is as the waters of Noah to me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more overflow the earth; so have I sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. 10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, says the LORD that has mercy on you.

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 60:10 And the sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you: for in my wrath I smote you, but in my favor have I had mercy on you.

Isaiah 63:7. I will mention the loving-kindness of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving-kindness. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old. 15. Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where is your zeal and your strength, the sounding of your bowels and of your mercies toward me? are they restrained? 16 Doubtless you are our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: you, O LORD, are our father, our redeemer; your name is from everlasting.

Jeremiah 3:12. Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, you backsliding Israel, says the LORD; and I will not cause my anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, says the LORD, and I will not keep anger forever.

Jeremiah 7:25 Since the day that your fathers came forth from the land of Egypt to this day I have even sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising early and sending them: 26 Yet they hearkened not to me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers. [This verse displays God's patience.]

Jeremiah 31:20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart is troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says the LORD. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Jeremiah 33:7 And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. 8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, by which they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, by which they have sinned, and by which they have transgressed against me. 9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do for them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure for it.

Ezekiel 18:21. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he has committed, they shall not be mentioned to him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, by which you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, says the Lord GOD: therefore turn you, and live.

Ezekiel 36:25. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 33 Thus says the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be built.

Ezekiel 37:23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

Daniel 9:4. And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; 9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him; 18 O my God, incline your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and behold our desolation, and the city which is called by your name: for we do not present our supplications before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies.

Hosea 11:8. How shall I give you up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver you, Israel? how shall I make you as Admah? how shall I set you as Zeboim? my heart is turned within me, my compassion are kindled together. 9 I will not execute the fierceness of my anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city.

Jonah 4:2 And he prayed to the LORD, and said, I pray you, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before to Tarshish: for I knew that you are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repents of the evil. 10 Then said the LORD, You have had pity on the gourd, for which you have not labored, neither made it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: 11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also many cattle?

Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, that pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retains not his anger forever, because he delights in mercy. 19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. [God throws our sins into the deepest sea, which is deeper than Mt. Everest is high! ]

Zechariah 1:16 Therefore thus says the LORD; I have returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed. [This verse reveals God's mercy.]

Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. [These verses reveal God's type of mercy.]

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also fborgive you: 15 But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick with the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said to the sick with the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you. 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes. 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Why think you evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, Your sins are forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then said he to the sick with the palsy,) Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house. 7 And he arose, and departed to his house. 27. And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus said to them, Believe you that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it to you. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they were faint, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Matthew 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Matthew 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples [to him], and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

Matthew 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. 21. Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. 23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a certain king, who would take account of his servants. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought to him, who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he had nothing with which to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. 27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe. 29 And his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you all. 30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord, having called him, said to him, O you wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you did beg me: 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow-servant, even as I had pity on you? 34 And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the torturers, till he should pay all that was due to him. 35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also to you, if you from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Matthew 19:8 He said to them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. [This verse reveals God's mercy.]

Matthew 20:30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David. 31 And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David. 32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will you that I shall do to you? 33 They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. 34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them who are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not! [This verse reveals God's patience.]

Matthew 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink you all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Mark 1:4 John was baptizing in the wilderness, and preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Mark 5:18 And when he had come into the boat, he that had been possessed with the demon begged him that he might be with him. 19 However Jesus permitted him not, but said to him, Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and has had compassion on you.

Mark 10:13. And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Mark 11:25 And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have any thing against any: that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; 58 And her neighbors and her cousins heard that the Lord had shown great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. 71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; 72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; 77 To give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God; with which the dayspring from on high has visited us,

Luke 6:37. Judge not, and you shall not be judged: condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven:

Luke 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Weep not. 47 Therefore I say to you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. 48 And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven. 49 And they that were eating with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also?

Luke 13:6. He spoke also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit on it, and found none. 7 Then said he to the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why encumbers it the ground? 8 And he answering said to him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it shall bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that you shall cut it down. [These verses reveal God's patience and mercy.]

Luke 15:4 What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say to you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance. 8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loses one piece, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and her neighbors together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. 10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents. 11. And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. And he divided to them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he was longing to fill his belly with the husks that the swine ate: and no man gave to him. 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before you, 19 And am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of your hired servants. 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight, and am no more worthy to be called your son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, Your brother is come; and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound. 28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore his father came out, and entreated him. 29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve you, neither have I at any time transgressed your commandment: and yet you never gave me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: 30 But as soon as this your son had come, who has devoured your living with harlots, you have killed for him the fatted calf. 31 And he said to him, Son, you are ever with me, and all that I have is yours. 32 It was right that we should make merry, and be glad: for this your brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. [These verses reveal God's mercy.]

Luke 19:41. And when he had come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

Luke 23:33 And when they had come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. [Jesus even forgave the very ones who crucified Him! What depth of mercy He had! How can we do less? ]

Luke 24:46 And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Romans 9:15 For he said to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. 18 Therefore he has mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardens. 22 What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory, 24 Even us, whom he has called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Romans 10:20 But Isaiah is very bold, and said, I was found by them that sought me not; I was made manifest to them that asked not for me. 21 But to Israel he said, All day long I have stretched forth my hands to a disobedient and contrary people. [This verse shows God's patience.]

Romans 11:30 For as you in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 15 And account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given to him has written to you;

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Thank God for His compassion for us. Because He made us, knows us intimately and because Jesus lived among us as one of us, He totally understands our hurts, frustrations, temptations, etc. God literally feels with us and counts our tears. What a wonderful God He us, that as high and mighty as He is, He stoops to our level to feel what we feel. Hallelujah, He has the ability to comfort, help, and even alleviate our problems.

Do we forgive ourselves when God has forgiven us? How do we do in forgiving others? Do we constantly rehearse sins that God has chosen to forgive, forget, blot out and bury? As Rom. 8:? says, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" That includes ourselves. Are we arguing with the Sovereign Lord of the universe about confessed and repented sin?

Let's thank God for His patience with each one of us. Without it, we would be lost. Let's be as patient with each other as Go is with us.
