[Many of these verses do not specifically contain these exact words, but from the mouth of God’s prophets, priests and kings we hear His desire to assure and establish us. Just look at the many times we are told not to fear!]

For you must go with this people unto the land which the LORD has sworn unto their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it. 23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore unto them: and I will be with you.

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. 18 Whosoever he be that does rebel against your commandment, and will not hearken unto your words in all that you commanded him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage. [Along with God’s command to be courageous comes the promise of His presence to empower the command. Between this scripture and the ones at the end of Deut., do you think God may have been trying to make a point to Joshua (and us)?]

Romans 6:3 Know not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

1 Corinthians 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:5 Now he that has wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also has given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight.) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. 12 That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world. 14 For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us. 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of two one new man, so making peace. 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby. 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. 7 Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised him from the dead.

Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward his name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. 19 Which hope we have as an Anchor Of The Soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil.

Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him. 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace. 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abides a priest continually. 22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. 36 For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

1 John 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

1 John 4:13 Hereby know are assured we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 17. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 10 He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself: he that believes not God has made him a liar; because he believes not the record that God gave of his Son. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know be assured eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Do we need assurance today? Let's look to our Lord for it. Having the Holy Spirit in our lives is like a down payment on eternity, a little bit of Heaven in our lives. We know we are the Lord's if the Holy Spirit is in us.

Many of us think we lack faith. If that is so, let's go to God for His. That is truly the kind that can never fail. Then...let's use it.

Do we ever loose hope? Are we ever depressed? God is our Hope. He gives us Hope. He is the source of it. If God says "There is Hope and it is Myself." who are we to argue? The next time the temptation to despair comes along, let's turn to Our God. He is our supply of all we need, including Hope.

God is the world's only source of peace, both within us and between us. Let's look to Him when we need it. God's kind of peace is not merely absence of stress and strife. His peace is strongest in the midst of the worst. God's peace doesn't make sense-it passes understanding.
